NEWTON online services and the website www.newton.ca are provided by Newton Connectivity Systems Inc. (“NEWTON”, “we”, “us” or “our”). The use of information collected through our service shall be limited to the purpose of providing the service for which subscribers have engaged NEWTON.
We adhere to the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), its Ten Principles of Privacy together with corresponding provincial privacy laws.
Accountability
We are accountable for all personal information in our control, including any personal information transferred to third parties for payment or other processing. WE have created policies and procedures to comply with this policy and we have designated a person to be accountable for compliance. Where we process personal information on behalf of our subscribers, our subscribers control and are accountable for that personal information and we act as a service provider to our subscribers. This privacy policy does not apply to personal information of our subscribers’ customers.
Personal Information We Collect and the Purpose for Collecting
We will inform subscribers of the purpose for which their personal information will be used before or when they consent to its collection. During the subscription process you are requested to provide certain personal information including name, address and contact information in order to provide the online services. If you’d like to use a paid version of our services, we will need your credit card number and billing information as well. The company also collects application usage statistics.
When you subscribe to receive SMS communications from us, we may collect the following information:
- Phone Number: The mobile phone number you provide to us.
- Message Content: The content of SMS messages exchanged between you and us
Obtaining Consent
We will obtain consent before or when we collect, use or disclose personal information about an individual. An individual can withdraw consent at any time which may result in conflict with our subscription terms and terminate our working relationship.
We will collect, use or disclose personal information without an individual’s consent only in limited circumstances and compelled by law. In the case of SMS communications, You can opt out of receiving them from us at any time by following the instructions provided in the messages or by contacting us directly
Information Related to Data Collection through the Service
We process personal information under the direction of our subscribers, and we have no direct relationship with the individuals whose personal data we process on behalf of our subscribers. Our subscribers control and are accountable for this personal information. If you are a customer of one of our subscribers, the processing of your personal information will be governed by our subscriber’s privacy policy. Please contact the subscriber directly if you have any questions about their practices or would like to exercise your rights with respect to your personal information under their control.
Limits on Using, Disclosing & Retaining Personal Information
We limit the amount of personal information we collect to what is necessary for the identified purpose. We will not use or disclose any personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected and consent obtained, except as may be permitted or required by law. Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of these purposes.
In the case of SMS communications, we use the information collected for the following purposes:

Information will be retained in our database in Canada with fail safes and daily back up protocols together with encryption and password protection. Personal information may also be processed by us or our service providers outside of Canada.
Additional security for our software service information can be provided upon request.

We are open about sharing with a subscriber the procedures used to manage and safeguard personal information. This information can be provided in a format that is easy to understand.
Providing Access to Personal Information
When requested by a subscriber, we will advise what personal information we have in our possession or control about either the subscriber or their clients, what it is being used for, and to whom it has been disclosed. A subscriber may also request access to their personal information. If any subscriber personal information is accurate or out of date, the subscriber can request that we make corrections or updates.
AI Use Disclosure – Mortgage Submission Notes
Newton may use Artificial Intelligence (“AI”)-enabled tools to assist in the preparation of mortgage submission notes that are shared with prospective lenders as part of the mortgage application process.
Our Commitment to Your Privacy:
- Secure Environment: This system operates within a controlled, “walled” environment designed to protect your personal and financial information.
- Data Integrity: The solution is intended to operate as a “closed” system under a paid subscription model. Information provided through this process is not used to train public or generally available AI models.
- Professional Oversight: The use of AI in this context is intended solely to support mortgage brokers and lenders in the adjudication and assessment of credit by helping organize and summarize relevant information. All outputs are reviewed by qualified professionals, and AI does not make final lending decisions.
